Design work closely with local authorities providing new libraries
and community buildings. Starting with the architect’s conceptual
designs, we produce calculations and drawings for the contractor. Of
great importance is the full interaction between design team members
to ensure that the client’s requirements are met.
 |
We can
provide design calculations and sketches for alterations,
extensions, renovations, removal of load bearing walls and loft
conversions. Often needed in a hurry, this work can be commissioned
either directly by the building’s owners or through an architect or
project manager. We can also provide a structural survey service.
 |
| Abacus Design provide
structural engineering services to a number of national house
builders. We provide foundation and superstructure design, ensuring
that proposed buildings are compliant with Part A of The Building
Regulations. Our team of Chartered Structural Engineers are also
able to provide rapid solutions to problems which might arise during
the construction phase.

Design prepare foul and storm water drainage design for many
projects. Our previous designs have included private drainage within
new sites and connections into existing public sewerage systems,
into soakaways or into temporary storage areas. Often, we are
required to liaise with the local water authorities so as to obtain
sewer adoption by the local authority.

We have
extensive experience working for steelwork contractors across the
UK. In particular we offer design and detailing of complex steel
connections. Previous projects include Highcross Shopping Centre,
Leicester (£350m) and Broadmead Shopping Centre, Bristol (£550m). We
